Sedimentary Rocks

Sedimentary rocks are rocks which are usually for in bodies of water. If you go to a beach the sand that you rest your feet in can become a sedimentary rock in thousands of years. Sedimentary rocks make up three quarters of the rocks in the world.  Sedimentary rock are formed from other rocks. There are different types of sedimentary rocks. Sometime sedimentary rock can also be formed by chemical processes with mineral crystals such as halite (salt in it's natural form) and gypsum  (formed by water evaporating and leaving the minerals behind). You can identify these rocks by seeing if there are fragments of other rocks or fossil.

Sedimentary rocks play a massive part in life. Without them we would not have salt or chalk. Sandstone (a sedimentary rock) a rock that has been use for hundreds of years has been a reliable material for construction. Other
