Igneous Rocks

The igneous rock is one of the three rock types, the others being sedimentary and metamorphic.
Igneous rocks are formed though the cooling and solidification of magma or lava.
There are over 700 different types of igneous rocks, most of them having formed beneath the Earths crust.
Igneous rocks are made from hot liquid calls magma that is found in the mantle. Over millions of years the magma rises up from the mantle and through the earths crusts. As it does, it cools and hardens to form igneous rocks.
